Leadership
Prior to co-founding Cohere, Siva was a founding partner of SCIO Health Analytics which served over fifty Fortune 500 healthcare organizations. Siva has more than 20 years of experience in utilizing technology and data to improve healthcare processes. He holds a master’s in computer science from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
CEO & Co-Founder
After practicing orthopedic surgery for more than 25 years, Dr. Brian Covino joined Cohere in 2020 after having served as a consultant since 2018. During his years as a practicing surgeon, Dr. Covino was a partner at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic/OrthoTennessee specializing in joint replacement surgery. He holds a bachelor’s from Harvard University as well as an M.D. from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Covino received his surgical training at the University of Virginia Graduate School of Medical Education and completed a fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Chief Medical Officer
A technology leader in the healthcare and life sciences spaces, Niall most recently acted as Chief Technology Officer for Genospace, a cloud-based software company focused on delivering personalized medicine. Niall was a member of the founding team at Genospace which was acquired by Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA. Niall also held software engineering positions at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Fidelity Investments.
Niall earned a B.E. in Electronics and Computers from National University of Ireland, Galway and attended the Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Technology Officer
With more than 20 years of experience as a HealthTech executive, Krishna brings a broad range of experience to Cohere. Previously, he was the Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer at SCIO Health Analytics which served clients across the payer, health systems, and life sciences segments. Krishna has held senior positions at Perot Systems, EXL Service and Abacus where he was responsible for creating go-to-market strategies and driving the commercial efforts.
Krishna holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from Stern School of Business at New York University.
Chief Growth Officer
During her three years at Cohere, Malissa has designed, developed, and scaled the customer success, contact center, vendor management, and production operations leadership teams moving from Senior Vice President of Operations to Executive Vice President to now the COO. Malissa’s leadership strengths include driving overall operational growth, including tactical execution of Cohere’s business objectives.
Prior to working at Cohere, Malissa held the title of Senior Vice President of Operations at both ModivCare and Circulation. She has also held senior positions at CareCentrix, JPMorgan Chase, Medco, and Express Scripts.

Kristen holds a B.S. as well as an M.B.A in Business Administration from the University of Dayton.

Melinda has more than 20 years of experience as in-house counsel for technology companies. Prior to joining Cohere, she was a partner with OutsideGC, a law firm that provides on-demand legal services, where she worked with a variety of software and technology companies. Previously, she served as general counsel for the Draper Laboratory, a research and development laboratory in Cambridge, MA, Sonus Networks, and Lotus Development Corporation.
Melinda received her B.A. from Wellesley College and her J.D from Suffolk University.
General Counsel
Before joining Cohere, Lindsay led talent acquisition at Starry, an internet service provider where she was responsible for recruiting strategy. Previously, Lindsay spent over five years at PatientPing, a health tech startup where she was part of a team that took the company from Series A-C and then to acquisition. In addition, Lindsay has worked in public relations, retail, and tech recruiting.
Lindsay holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts.
SVP, People Operations
Samantha brings leadership experience in innovation and business building across the healthcare ecosystem. Previously, she led SCAN Health Plan’s I-SNP and mobile care delivery team, which ignited her passion for value-based care and drive to improve the UM experience. In prior roles, she was GM at Parsley Health, and she developed and launched digital health strategies, products, and businesses at BCG Digital Ventures, Continuum, and Medtronic Diabetes.
Sam earned two master’s degrees from Northwestern University: an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a Master of Engineering Management in Design. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.

John has more than 20 years of diverse go-to-market leadership experience across health plans, health systems, physician organizations and healthcare IT vendors. Prior to joining Cohere, John led efforts to help grow the health plan UM businesses at McKesson/Change Healthcare, Cognizant Trizetto and InformedDNA.
John holds a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University.

Dr. Gary Gottlieb most recently served as CEO of Partners in Health. From 2010 until 2015, he served as president and CEO of Partners HealthCare, the parent of the Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals. Dr. Gottlieb is a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. He served as president of Brigham and Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals, as president of North Shore Medical Center, and as chairman of Partners Psychiatry. As a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, he earned an M.B.A with distinction in health care administration from the Wharton Graduate School of Business Administration. Dr. Gottlieb is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and serves on the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Carrie Milby currently serves as the Vice President, Healthcare Quality Reporting & Improvement with a focus on Risk Adjustment and Interoperability Strategy. Carrie oversees all aspects of Risk Adjustment for Medicare, Medicaid, ACA businesses and enterprise-wide interoperability functions. This includes, In-Home and Provider Programs, Retrospective Operations, Encounter Submissions, Dual-Eligible and Medicaid support functions, Payer-Provider EHR integration, payer-to-payer, and patient access requirements. Through her tenure, she has grown these programs 5X, while reducing unit cost by more than 200%, now covering more than 600K providers and 5.65M members in programs annually. Carrie also serves on the Board of Directors for Cohere Health.
Prior to her current role, she spent her first 11 years with Humana in various operational roles including Medicare Enrollment, Grievance & Appeals, Member Communications, and Process Transformation focused on productivity and operational effectiveness. Prior to joining Humana, Carrie worked at GE Capital.

Julian Harris, M.D., is a Partner on the Healthcare Services team at Deerfield and joined the Firm in 2019. Dr. Harris provides extensive research and analysis on individual companies operating in the healthcare industry. He also works with a variety of health care services and technology companies that are both current and potential investment partners. Before Deerfield, Dr. Harris was the founding President of CareAllies, Cigna’s family of multi-payer provider services and home-based care businesses. Previously, he led US Strategic Operations for Cigna and managed a $500M internal investment portfolio focused on technology and innovation. Dr. Harris was also an Adviser to Google Ventures (GV) focused on health care services. Before GV, he led the health care team in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). As the federal government’s chief health care finance official, he oversaw a $1 trillion budget and provided management and policy oversight for a range of programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, NIH and CDC. He also served as the chief executive of the $11 billion Massachusetts Medicaid program. Dr. Harris trained in internal medicine and primary care at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital and practiced as a hospitalist at Cambridge Health Alliance and as a clinical consultant for BestDoctors. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Health Policy & Medical Ethics from Duke University and holds an M.Sc. from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. He is also a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine, where he currently serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor. Dr. Harris is a trustee of the New York Academy of Medicine and a member of the advisory boards for the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at Penn and the NYU Department of Population Health.

Steve Anastos is a Principal at Deerfield and joined the Firm in 2020 to focus on early and growth stage investments in healthcare technology and services companies. Prior to Deerfield, Mr. Anastos served on the Leadership Team of Medicaid in Massachusetts (MassHealth) and led MassHealth’s Accountable Care Organization program. Representing over $5 billion of annual spend and covering approximately 900,000 members, the ACO program is Massachusetts’ largest effort to transition the Medicaid delivery system towards value-based reimbursement. Before MassHealth, Mr. Anastos was a Principal at Bain Capital Ventures, where he worked on early and growth stage investments in healthcare, B2B software and consumer technology. In 2017, he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Venture Capital. Prior to Bain, Mr. Anastos was an Associate at Blueprint Health, an incubator of digital health companies in New York, and began his career at Altman Vilandrie & Company, a technology-focused strategy consulting firm. He holds an A.B. in History with a minor in Economics from Harvard University, where he wrote his thesis on the creation of Medicare and Medicaid.

Lynne Chou O’Keefe is the Founder and Managing Partner of Define Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm focused on investing in digital health companies redefining healthcare that will change all our lives. Lynne’s experience includes both healthcare operating, investing, and finance roles. Previously, she was a Senior Partner at Kleiner Perkins focused on digital health and connected devices early stage investing. She worked with many portfolio companies, such as Livongo Health (NASDAQ: LVGO), Lumeris, and Oculeve (Acquired by Allergan). Before joining Kleiner Perkins, Lynne worked at Abbott Vascular and Guidant in multiple roles launching over ten product families in the US and internationally. Lynne was responsible for building the global commercial strategy and therapy development as well as playing a key role in the clinical, reimbursement, and operational strategy for these therapies. Earlier in her career, Lynne worked at Apax Partners with a focus on software venture capital investing. In addition, Lynne worked at Goldman Sachs in the Mergers and Acquisitions group and worked on multiple multi-billion dollar acquisitions and sell side transactions in various industries. Lynne earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
